Surprised no body has snapped this beauty up ….. NOW SOLD for just £850 + extra cost for delivery and set up , someone got a Bargain .

NOW SOLD for £850 offer accepted ……. via GCL billiards web site , collection of this table delivery and set up  is due 30th of May by GCL billiards to our buying client .

It took a bit of time but someone has finally took notice of what a Bargain this Quality oak table was , and with the lower all inclusive price of £1500 and readvertisement to bring it back to the top of the listing worked. the owner originally was looking for £2000 just for the table as it stood plus the cost of dismantle and delivery when the first advert was placed around 7 months ago.. the table market can be slow above the £1000 price tag , so advice was given for a quicker sale and we came up with an all inclusive price to help sell the table .

Please read the following and then look on Ebay you will not see a quality Solid Oak Orme table like this at an all inclusive price of around £1500 * , genuine UK made vintage table with welsh slate , and set up by a fitter who take his time to make sure one stage is correct before moving onto the next , we do not speed fit at GCL Billiards . these are no Library photo’s of tables sold in the past , the table in the photo’s is the actual table you are buying .

*** inclusive price depends on where you are located and if the table can be dismantled transported and set up in one day ***

Although I have had enquiries for this table on the web site ,  the stumbling block is the cost of dismantle and transport and setting up , the Price for the table is good one at £1000 .
but costs for dismantle and move is £275 plus 50p per mile van use from home base to home base, and then £325 to unload and set up , this is over two days work for a van and two Fitters.
I am willing to discount the above fitting side to help bring the total price down if we can find a buyer more local to Huddersfield or Nottingham and Derby or anywhere inbetween and we get all the work done in one long day.
and I am sure the owner will  also listen to sensible offers .

Also you may collect the table yourself and just have Geoff of GCL Billiards to assemble and fit the table with your own labour to help lift the slate onto the frame , this would keep the costs lower .
But please make sure you are capable of dismantling a full size table and handling as one mistake with those slates and the table is scrap and that they can hurt if they fall on you .
better to get the professionals in to move a table as saving a couple of hundred pounds is just not worth the risk
oak orme full photo 001
If we can get a deal that see’s the table moved and set up for an all in price of around £1500 / £1600 , then this table would be a Bargain for the buyer , moving price also depends on any stairs being involved which would increase man power unless the buyer provides the extra help to get the heavy slates up or down stairs we do have all the lifting straps and stair slides plus trolley to move the table , we would like a Ground Floor to Ground Floor access with good solid pathways and maybe the odd step .
The owner would like to use the room for other purpose,  so it is not a desperate we are moving house sale . Although he would like to do this sooner rather than later, and that is why we have come up with a plan for an all in price to help with the sale if it can be done all in a day.
It is not every day that a table in this condition comes up for sale , a Full size Orme and sons made around 1920/30s  in solid Oak , this table would suit the modern house with oak furnishings and fittings , or a Barn conversion with oak beams .
oak orme cues rests included 01Oak orme ball in opening 001oak orme leg 01
As you can see the cloth has hardly any use and will not require a re-cover , in fact it was not that long ago that the owner spent a considerable amount to have the table fully restored .
any enquiries please contact Geoff on email c.large@btinternet.com or telephone mobile 07753466064 .

This is a true opportunity to snap up a Bargain , George Wright was a top end billiards table manufacturer , and made some very sturdy well built tables , that took a good slice of the table market up , even outselling Thurston and burroughes and watts in their day  , George wright received a Royal Warrant from Edward VII , who replaced his mothers ( Queen Victoria ) Thurston billiard table in Buckingham Palace , and he also had George wright replace many other Billiard tables around the royal households , such was George wright favoured by Edward , only a few escaped replacement the only table I think he he did not replace was the Burroughs and watts table in Osborne house.
George Wright founded in 1868 , and this table is from Circa 1894 , we can date this from the 18 medal badge on the end cushion as by 1902 they had 21 medals badges being fitted , so only a small window for the 18 badge plates to be attached to the end cushion .
George wright boston end badge 18 medals
the 1894 badge , they had the royal warrant from then Prince Edward , by 1902 Victoria had passed away and the full HM King coat of arms replaced the left hand Prince of wales Feathers.

you can get some better information from this E A Clare site link below about George Wrights History and what happened to them

Ashcroft Tulip leg Full size snooker table for sale circa pre 1896 , Quick sale required. OFFERS !

We have a new client who, because of a house move within two months, has to reluctantly sell their beautiful condition Ashcroft billiard table quick.

There is a full compliment of rests and from the photo maybe a free standing cue rack and all cues plus an electric iron and the draylon covered shade.  The table went through a complete renovation and looking at the polish it was a first class job.

Please be realistic with any offers.  The table cost £6,000 10 years ago.  If you are looking for a period type table without the hassle of a complete restoration which would cost in the region of £2,000, then this is the table for you.

I doubt that you would get this table for less than £5,000 from a dealer, but the owner is realistic in that the value has dropped on the second hand market and that the costs of moving it also has to be taken into account as would the VAT loss on the table when he bought it.

My valuation is between £1,000 and £2,000 as it stands with all equipment  ….but all offers will be considered.

Do not forget you are buying this table direct from the private seller, with no middleman fees or VAT.  All you would have to pay extra is the cost of dismantle and transportation, plus any other work you may require like a re-cover if it required one.

By buying direct you have saved money and bought a good antique table of vintage years, with no fuss of trawling through firms that you can or cannot trust to buy one.  GCL Billiards have a good reputation of maintaining tables and the transportation and erection of tables is not a problem for them, having done this type of work with 40 years experience as a billiards fitter.

Ashcrofts of Liverpool founded in 1865 / 1869 ?  For all the information about Ashcrofts please read Peter Ashcroft’s contribution to the History of this firm here on E A clares & sons web site.

Please study the quality of this table manufacture.  Look at the carved tulip legs.  If you are interested in the table then please contact Geoff at GCL Billiards on his email c.large@btinternet.com

Geoff will forward the owners contact details and you can then put any offer to him.  GCL Billiards would be happy to quote for any removal and transporting of the table.

Table is located at Redditch just below Birmingham off the M42.  For viewing contact Geoff at email c.large@btinternet.com

The table is in oak has been subject to a renovation by the owner 15 years ago and only home use .

this model is called the Challenge and made by W Jelks & sons of Holloway Road London around the 1920/30s .
value wise around £1500 in current condition , a dealer would ask a little more for it .

The owner wants around XXXX  REDUCED to £1000 for quick sale  for this nice period oak dining table , so offers around this price . Was £1500 save £500 !

Dining convertible snooker / billiard tables are much more sought after than a full size table and therefore hold their market price more , especially if it has gone through a refurbishment and is not showing signs of wear apart from cloth wear . where you can pick up a full size table for a good price , these diners are very sought after so normally start at around £500 in shabby state to £2000 for immaculate condition.

igor oak riley viceroy end shot
This table would grace any home and being oak will go with more modern type decor rather than the dark mahogany that 90% of tables come in .
the legs being square also helps it to blend in with the contemporary look that most people are going for these days .
If  I  had a house large enough for a full sized table this would be the type of table I would go for , they also look great in oak beamed barn conversions.
I have a client local to me who may be interested in this table and have given him the first opportunity to get in touch to thrash out a price with the owner
Remember you are buying direct from the owner with no commision or middleman fee’s added to it and NO 20% VAT so you beat the tax man too .
Just look at this splendid Solid Oak table from this close up  shot of the cushion cappings  it is immaculate woodwork wise .

A display piece rather than one that has seen a lot of use
igor oak aristocrat leg closeup
complete with matching scoreboard and cue rack with 6 cues and a full compliment of rests
WE DO NOT have a price for this table as yet and are still in discussions with the owner to what to ask for it , but we both agree it needs to get out there up for sale and in the shop window to see what is offered , we feel it is not the usual faded and marked woodwork table that we normally get in our for sale section although some advertised do come close to this Refurbed condition and therefore feel it is is worth a bit more than the usual tables that come up for sale that have had a lot of use , you may notice that there are not hooks on the end cushion , this will stop the frame being marked by banging the brass head against the polished oak woodwork  and as a Billiard fitter who has seen the damage this can cause I also prefer no hooks at all on a refurbished table .

If you are interested in this immaculate table then please get in touch with Geoff at c.large@btinternet.com
He will forward any interested people’s email onto the selling client , and if a sale is agreed with the seller , then please feel free to ask Geoff for a quote to dismantle and transport to the new owners property , all we ask for is a Delivery post code and if any steps or stairs or rough ground like gravel or turf is an obstacle  to our piano trolley to move the heavy slates.

RARE 10ft NOW SOLD ! just been informed it sold two weeks ago .

NOW…. SOLD …….SOLD…….. SOLD !

Not often a table of this quality comes along.  A 10ft 8 leg Burroughs & Watts badged table.  The pocket plates are the bolted type so it will confirm it is the same designed pocket plate as a Burroughs and Watts.  The Badge however is a re-rubber badge informing of a re-rubber with the names Arrowflite cushion rubber.
john B&watts 10ft end shot
End photo of the table which comes with shade and scoreboard and a few accessories.
john B& watts all veiw 8 leg 10ft
john B&watts pocket bolt under
The pocket from underneath.  It has the better bolted pocket plate as used by Burroughes and Watts.  A gem of a find, a genuine 8 legged 10ft table in what looks pristine condition from the photo’s.  This is the next best thing to a full sized table, built with 8 legs rather than the normal 6 legs, a foot larger than a 3/4 sized 9ft and 2 feet shorter than a full size.  So if you have a room that you thought was large enough for a full sized 12ft and now after measuring it is 20 ft by 15 ft, then this is the table to buy.

Very rare to find them nowadays.  And after taking into consideration the dismantle and move plus set up, we value the table at £995, price based on what two 9ft tables have just sold off the website at £650 and £750 and both of these tables where not in as good a condition as this 10 ft.

This is a private sale direct from our selling client.  All interested parties please contact Geoff at c.large@btinternet.com and he will pass all the details onto the seller to make contact with you.

If you require a professional dismantle transport and erection service, then look no further than Geoff at GCL Billiards.  We carry out this type of work on a weekly basis and have nearly 40 years personal experience.  We are also recommended by the NBSA to carry the work out to a high standard.

Please note that the buy it now price is as it stands on site.  If you require  a quote for removal and set up please send Geoff your post code and inform if any stairs or steps or rough ground like gravel or grass is involved in getting the slates inside the room.
rex 8 van outside property
The table is located near Monmouth.  I am informed it requires nothing as it has just been a room filler since it was installed.
john 9ft Burrougths and watts
Good condition cloth will only require restretch and baulk erasing with acetone ready for new marking out.  Also good nets leathers and rails.
john b&watts 9ft badge arrowflite
Close up of re-rubber arrowflite badge, as swift as an arrow which was Burroughes and Watts motto for the new cushion rubber.  I would say it has now been fitted with a good quality modern rubber of Northern Rubber standard.  The badge was left on as a display only product.

This table will not be around long as 10 fts are pretty rare to find and an 8 leg one even rarer to find.  The price is very fair as it has been explained any new owner would have to pay for removal and set up by a qualified Billiards Fitter.  12 fts are easy to find at very low prices but try finding a vintage 8 leg 10 ft in as good a condition as this for under £1,000 from a dealer, in fact under £2000.
