As you can see the table is located in a garage or workshop.  The table is ideal for two markets, someone who requires a low cost table of good build quality for their garage or outbuilding, or someone who wishes to have the table fully restored or part restored for use in the home.  The woodwork has marks from use and the cloth may be ok for the garage, but if putting the table inside then maybe a re-cover in nice new Strachan 6811 Tournament cloth would transform the playing surface.

Room size you would require is 19 feet by 14 feet 6 inches in order to have good cue room around the table.

The genuine Orme & Sons Ivory name plate , you can tell it is real ivory by the grain of the elephant tusk in the background of the plate , sometimes known as cross hatch pattern.  Although it says “established in 1845” the table is circa 1901 to 1910 as referenced to by “appointment to King Edward VII”.  This is a well made table, made by one of the top billiard houses of the 19th and 20th century.

Full size carved reeded George Wright Snooker table with life pool scoreboard and Iron for sale

A full sized snooker table for sale, made by George Wright circa 1910.  This reeded leg table comes with a full sized life pool scoreboard which alone can fetch over £1000 just for the scoreboard !

The table is in fair to good condition and also has a coffin type modern shade with a table iron, dust cover, 9 cues and rests.

Price for complete package is just £1,200 but this price does NOT  include dismantle and transport and set back up.  GCL Billiards will be happy to quote for that work.

The table is based in the Torbay area of Devon (TQ3 postcode area).  Anyone who is interested sould please contact Geoff at GCL Billiards for further info and contact details of the owner.

The scoreboard is a very nice full size renovated Life Pool scoreboard which alone is worth a minimum of £750 from a dealer.  The owner says that the table iron could do with a rewire, so I’m not sure if it is working or not.  Maybe it just has a bad lead.  I suspect it is working and requires a new plug and lead as many of these old irons do.  New plugs on ebay are around £10.  Various cues and rests plus of course balls and triangle are included.

Another 9ft NOW SOLD

NOW SOLD being moved by GCL Billiards Tuesday 18th june . please look at the other 3/4 sized snooker tables for sale direct from the owners on GCL Billiards blog site .

Just as I have advertised one 9ft , I get a phone call about another that is local to Lincoln /Grantham at Welbourn in a large country house .
The table top alone is very well made and would have cost a considerable amount ,

Both the 9fts have their merits, this one having an oversized dining top fitted to allow for under knee space when on a chair.  But make and age  I am uncertain of?  I was told by the seller it was a 5 section slate which is unusual for a 9ft table and I think I may have set up a table the same design as this around two years ago, an Allied Billiards made table which was also a 9ft and had 5 slates on it.

We have four 9ft Snooker tables in our for sale section at the moment, probably more choice than some billiard firms have in stock and all direct from the seller.  All are private sales and all are priced around the same price.  Why not look at the tables and make a choice of which is the right table for you.

If you require further information on the tables then please get in touch with Geoff who will give you his personal feelings about each table, but I will say this NONE of the 9ft tables are bad tables.  Some are better than others only because of condition of say cloth, rubber and polish.  But they are all sound tables for sale direct from the client without any middle men’s fees or commisions.  So a great way to purchase a table.

GCL Billiards advertise these tables free of charge and in return we just hope you use us to move the tables and any future re-cover work or other maintenance you may require.  We are only in this for continuation of work, it all helps and by providing this free service.  It helps the seller as well as GCL Billiards.

Thurston full size snooker table for sale in West Sussex

A very Rare gillows table , gillows was a cabinet maker in the very early 1800s .
the firm later algimated to become the well known furniture manufacturers Waring and Gillow .
This table is now up for sale , it is the most sought after antique billiard table that was made , gillows only made around 15 tables a year . it was not their main line of furniture making , John thurston was an aprentice for Gillows london branch in the very early 1800s.

It is very unusual to have gillows carved into the end frame work of the table , if their are gillows records about the referance number 1105 should reveal who was the first owner of the table , but i will point out that I did find a label on one of the cushions when I re-covered this table in 2007 . and here it is , on the lable it reads a womans name a Miss Gladstone and a village called Witham in which maybe in essex and is not too far away from where this table is now located  , I think this is the original owner of the table or a sibling that the table was passed down to. the number 26-483 maybe a job referance number for work on the table or a removals tag , which would have been a horse and cart removal in those days .
but it could also be a lable from when Thurston did work to the cushions Rubber blocks in 1890s

the table would have had a three section wood bed and stuffed felt cushions when it was first manufactured it has now got a three section slate bed which is circa 1830s so the table itself would be at least that old as not long after three section slate 4 section was the norm by 1850s  then 5 section by the 1870s , Thurston billiards has done some work on the cushions around 1898 by the ivory name plate on the other end from the carved Gillows end . maybe Thurston will have some record of doing this ?

Thurston badge which I have been told is circa 1890s /1900 , this badge was put on by Thurston when they changed the cushions to modern blocks for the new type of rubber being used in the cushions at that time period , the table is much older than this badge . maybe as much as 90 years older . but no less than 70 years older.

if you require any more information on this table please enter the link to the snooker forum as listed above at the top of this page , there is more information and more photo’s of this very rare Billiard table , if anyone would be interested in the Gillows table , then please feel free to contact me at the email below only , and I will refer youre enquiry to the owners of the table , but I will warn you , fully renovated pieces of gillows furniture fetch a considerable amount of money , this table fully renovated would be worth in the region of between £30.000 to £55.000 , in all honesty I expect this table to end up at Bonhams auction house , that was my recommendation to the Owners. it will prob end up in America , that was where the last one I knew about went to in the 1970s and that sold for £25000 back then .
All proceeds I have been informed are to go to charity .

NOW SOLD ! Here we Have a very nice almost mint condition Riley diner For Sale OPEN TO OFFERS ! in the region of £1000  now advertised on Ebay with a start price of just £500 !

M.Barnes riley diner, one of the last to be made in the Riley Burnley billiards works , before the final closure of Riley .

This one is UK manufactured not the lower priced Chinese imported Riley diner so please do not confuse the quality of this table with a Chinese made riley
