The table will work out at about £4000 with fitting to ground floor only  , re-using original bed cloth back on .
HUGE saving on new price for one of these now at around £15000 .

it all depends how close you live to Birmingham and Nottingham .
you will be saving around £9000 from buying a new table from Riley’s

as you can see from this photo of the Riley Aristocrat Match table when it was set up , the cushions are Match play  steel cushions

the legs and arches are Silver match colour from those classic lines of the Aristocrat when it was used to TV tournaments .

Table when it was finished for our client , the cloth is in pretty good order , but if you wished to have a new cloth fitted we could price that up too ( as an EXTRA )
an illness to a family member has forced the sale , and this is a very reluctant sale , our client got rid of a Star table for this one , like myself he rates the Riley  Aristocrat as the better table .
A superb table that in this condition and price does not come onto the market often as a package that includes fitting at this price .

I only get these tables come up now and again for sale as Private direct sales  , this was the last one I did .
from North wales to Nottingham and it cost a fair bit more than the silver legged one .

I have put an all in price which is a rough figure it all depends how far away you live and we must stress only Ground floor fitting will be accommodated no stair work .
If you are in the market for a full size riley steel cushioned match play aristocrat then save a huge amount of money and buy this one .
You will not regret it .
Our client has had very expensive heat pads as used by professional fitted to this table , we will take these off for transport , but must stress you must have a fully qualified electrician to fit them to the table we suggest using the same firm that supplies them .
We cannot fit any electrical item as we are not insured , you need to be a part P electrician qualified to fit electrical items like these .

Please no offers on this table , our client is selling at a very competitive price for these much sought after  MATCH SPEC  tables .
an iron is included in the price and  these alone are an expensive item .

SUPERB CARVED ORNATE BILLIARD TABLE IN BURR WALNUT ….. not many made like this one ! £15000

THIS COLLECTION IS ADVERTISED AT AN ALL INCLUSIVE FITTED PRICE OF £15000 as a PRIVATE SALE .

BURROUGHS AND WATTS circa 1880/90 Billiard table in Burr Walnut

OK here is an opportunity for someone
an exceptional Billiard table set including Large Life pool scoreboard and ball storage box underslung under the scoreboard , rotating cue rack , gas style design lighting , framed rules and illustrations .
and all accessories as seen in the photos including cues , rests , balls and cover .
Finished in a superb figured bur walnut , and carved lions heads to knee panels  and Acanthus leaves carved into legs .
You do not often get a table like this being offered direct from the PRIVATE SELLER . this is not a trade  sale .
If this table where to be sold from one of the top London Billiard houses , I am sure you would be paying much more than the advertised price .
I have advised the owners of a valuation and included within this valuation the cost of dismantle and delivery and set up to a Ground floor location .
lets face it no one likes to buy a table then have to look around for a billiards fitter to then find out they have a costly bill to pay for this service of removal and delivery and install .
Subject to distance within the mainland UK with  an acceptable amount of miles this is included  in the price .
Right lets get down to the actual table , I am sure you are going to be amazed at such a beautiful craftsman made Victorian Burr Walnut Burroughs and watts  table , manufactured to the highest standards using the best materials available at the time circa 1880 to  1890  .

As you can see the sunlight is showing this very nicely polished burr walnut veneer , carved Acanthus design leaf legs and Lions heads .

Lets get a  close up to the top quality carved legs and lions head , and shows just how the burr Walnut pops in the daylight
a nice tobacco coloured tint , also note the , top part of the leg has the Acanthus leaf carved into it , all hand carved in those days , the workmanship is out of this world .
you may also notice  the cushions have been  fluted  and the buttons are covering each cushion bolt head , you may also note the cushions have underslung chalk cups to store cue chalk around the table .
If this table where mine I would remove the hooks as they can cause rest head damage to the burr finish and polished wood .
Also note just how far that lions head comes out from the knee panel that covers the large heads of the frame bolts
also solid Walnut mouldings to cushions and frame . it may be that the sides are solid walnut too ?
I have not seen the table in the flesh but the grain of the side frame looks like it is following into the moulding which indicates solid wood not veneer or at least a very thick slab of walnut over thicker frame wood .
VICTORIAN CRAFTMANSHIP at it’s finest .

another side view from more acute angle

Included in this Billiard room set is the Life pool scoreboard 10 hander with underslung ball storage glazed cabinet

Life pool is a game where you get three lives , and an extra buy back life in the form of a sliding star ,
of which you can just see the small white pull out knobs to the left of the slide .
these boards normally came as 8/10/12 hand scorers , not all had the underslung ball storage .

Rotating cue rack , not sure if this a repro one or original , I have only seen the photos of this and not in the flesh
so I will stick my neck out and say reproduction as a gut instinct , unless proved wrong  , but the scoreboard is original to the same time period .

Ivory manufacturers plate , royal H Prince of wales dictates Queen Victoria still alive and I would guess this table was manufactured in a  time period of 1880 to 1890
So getting on for 140 years old .

A superb Repro gas BRASS and glass light shade , in very ornate craftsman made design , this alone may well have cost in excess of £2500 to £3000 when it was made .
I know much lesser made repro ones made by Christopher Ray light emporium sold for £1750 new in the 1980s , and in my opinion this one is miles better made .
You have to be very careful with glass shades above a table though with getting the rests out and lifting up after a shot .
You can get green metal ones that look just as good or acrylic made ones to replace the glass if you are concerned that you may break one .
If you bought this table I would suggest this light fitting  be taken separate from the table and be installed first , then the table could come after and be installed underneath it .
An Electrician with a  large van would be my advice to get this moved first .
Unfortunately this cost is not included in the asking price , and is not a service that GCL Billiards would take on .
It needs an electrician to be fully insured as fitted and fully working to part P code  .
the following are also included in the sale

Framed snooker and billiards rules

Four repro prints framed .

Now some of you may be thinking that’s not worth £15k !!!
but let me assure you I have just dismantled a table for a client who paid twice that amount from a well known leading billiards house just a couple of years ago .
and this table is just as good maybe better made .
The billiard house in question is located Close to Stevenage , and I have seen similar tables on their web site and another two leading billiards houses
that they would ask for much more than this , if this table was in their stock list .
In fact I was informed they did try to buy it when offered it , but not for what the table is worth and was quickly refused .
well that is their loss for not offering a  decent price for such a  fine example .
I can remember a well known country house near Loughborough who had a very similar table I used to work on to this , but not as ornate or with as good figuring of walnut
, and back in 1990’s the Billiard house mentioned bought it and sold it for £15k  back then .
Now I know you can go out there and pick up Snooker and Billiard tables at next to nothing prices these are nothing like this table , and I know it is a big outlay , but just look at the table .
it would grace any leading country Estate house , or Palace , in fact if it could be researched and  if I am a betting man , that is where it has come from either that or a Government office House .
Or top end Victorian Gentleman’s club .

Such is the quality of this table it cannot be mistaken for the run of the mill made table’s out there .
Not many about in this cared for previously renovated condition , sold as seen in the photos , from a very nice home .
A fine investment for the future .
Again look at the wood grain on the side frame following into the thicker lower moulding , indicates quality of the highest craftmanship and materials used
it may have been used as an exhibition table at one of the world trades fairs , I do know a few billiard houses did this , George wright won many medals doing such things , it just may be that this was also shown at an exhibition .
Not the great exhibition of 1851 at Crystal palace , but I think maybe one following in later years it could well have graced .
We can all speculate where it came from , but alas the Luftwaffe destroyed the Burroughs and watts records during WW2 when they flattened B&W Soho square office so no records available I’m afraid .
but I will ask A Billiards historian I know ( Peter Ainsworth ) what he thinks of it and his opinion .
I already know it is not a one off having already spoken to Peter about that  , but they probably made these types of tables in a limited run of say 10 or 12 not thousands .

Contact Geoff or Carol Large for more details and we will pass your inquiry onto the selling client .

Thurston Full size snooker table for sale ….in Worksop Nottingham on ground floor

We have a client who wishes to sell their late husbands old Thurston table circa around 1895 to 1910 .
a few cushion buttons missing , no scoreboard or cues or cue rack , just what you see in the photo’s
at a very low price of just £250 , Buyer arranges dismantle and removal from property .

the lighting shade is included which is under the table and must go with the table .
the rests balls and cue on the table can go also , I think his table had an ornate scoreboard and rotating round cue rack and some old cues ,
but someone ( maybe a dealer who deals in billiards accessories and not tables )  has been and cherry picked these , that is why the table is going for such a low price of £250
I would have liked to have seen it complete but hey these are the circumstances and lets face it if that scoreboard was a life pool one it would have been worth more than the table ,
also the cue rack and cues .
if it was complete with those collectable accessories , then a price of £1000 to £1500 would have been more likely with those pieces .
maybe more if the cues where old collectable hand spiced ones .

the table is in an out building on the ground floor so no stairs to bring down or up for those heavy slates .
I do recommend a professional billiards fitter is employed to dismantle , if you have no experience moving tables a broken slate is not uncommon for a DIY move .
GCL billiards would be happy to quote for this .
see below a photo of a DIY move slate .

this is what could happen if you dropped a slate section as a DIY move .
always get professional people in who have years of experience to dismantle and move and relocate a table
even removal firms refuse this work and say the same get a billiards firm in .

Typical three penny bit shape leg of Thurston , they used this design a lot around 1895 to 1910
so there you have it a Full size table made by the oldest surviving and still trading firms of Thurston , now based in Liverpool .
Thurston are not only the oldest surviving Billiards firm , they where the first to use slate around 1830 ,
John Thurston having worked for Gillows furniture and wood bed billiard table maker and set up as ~Thurston with a couple of partners  around the end of the 1790s .
later Gillows became Waring and Gillow .
Thurston’s became established as a registered stand alone firm in early 1810 probably around 1814 according to some written history as can be seen below if you click on the link .
it maybe that this table was an early 1890s table then had the more modern concealed pocket plate cushions fitted by Thurston around 1902’s 1930s as the billiards top plate became unfashionable .
these pocket plates have an unusual screw on lug on one side and a tapered lug on the other side , and can catch a few people out  when dismantling , you have to take the corner plates off with the end cushion and not a side cushion , then unscrew the pate off the end cushions .
the centre plate is just both ends tapered square .
here is a photo of the same style of leg table with those older billiards top plate cushions on

Doddington hall table Lincolnshire , same style of leg , this table is around 1880’s

you could read all about Thurston from this link .

8ft raise and fall Diner for sale £1000 buyer collects . table is based in Surrey

We have a client in Surrey who wishes to sell their Hamilton & Tucker 8ft by 4ft raise and fall diner
it will by the looks of the photos require a re-cloth and maybe new bags and nets to bring it back to its former glory , but the polish looks in good order
buyer will have to get full condition of rebound rubber value and condition of woodwork from the Private seller .

5 section hard wood top , the polish looks very good and has that antique look to it .

Hamilton and Tucker a good table manufacturer and a respectable name in the billiards trade .

Cloth has been used and as described would look better with a  new re-cloth .
I have been informed this is a three section raise and fall slate bed that has been screwed to a raise and fall subframe
unusual for a raise and fall diner as most have a one piece slate bed .
I would take the bed cloth off on strip down to see if that is the case , three section or one piece , it requires a re-cloth anyway .
My client has informed me he had no problems with the joints being disturbed if it is a three section bed  , when raising and falling the top to playing and dining height .
This is an extremely heavy table , my advice is for a full strip down of sectional bed rather than try and lift it in one section , you may nip the joints together if you get any flex in the subframe and it turned out to be a three section slate bed  .
so be aware of this , when you dismantle .
this is Buyer collect only , GCL billiards are extremely busy at the moment and could not fit this one in for the next couple of months .
we are away all of May and booked out through March and April so closer to three months fully booked out .
but I could recommend a couple of Billiard firms who could quote for this move if you buy the table .
The table is a long distance from Nottingham where GCL billiards are based and maybe one of the local firms down south would be a better option to remove the table and deliver,  if you wished for a bespoke service .
Table is on Ground floor , and I would recommend to put it on Ground floor and not upstairs .
the price of the table at £1000 does not include any dismantle and relocation or re-cloth or other work costs .
this you will have to get a  quote for and I would recommend that you do this before buying,  just so you know what the total cost would be .

all accessories that are with this table , shown laid out on the table bed .
Not sure if chairs are with it this you will have to ask the seller , sometimes they are available at extra cost .
or they may be keeping them for a new normal fixed dining table only to replace this one .

you could leave the nets and leathers as they are
but in my opinion if you are going for a re-cloth then replace the bag nets and leathers at same time to give a , as new playing experience .
so there you go full description a nice looking table that would grace any fine home .
I think this table will go pretty quick so if you like what you see do not hang around .
good 8ft diners are not as easy to find as their smaller 7ft and 6ft models , and they are the most sought after .
£1000 is a good price for such a quality manufactured Hamilton & Tucker table .
British made from quality woods and craftsmanship , not your usual import modern type sold on line for mega £ . …… Buy British .

10ft snooker table for sale , NOW SOLD

NOW SOLD to private buyer .>>>

BUT WE DO HAVE CLIENTS LOOKING FOR 10 ft tables so if you have one for sale get in touch .

SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
original advert

We have a client based in Essex who wishes to sell his 10ft snooker table
a popular size due to people not having the room for a full size by just a foot or so , so the next best thing is a 10ft by 5ft table .
I would like to say they do not come around so often but we have had two advertised and sold within the last month .
I suppose with people in covid lock down wish to have  their own table at home has spurred interest in the market .

10ft …Solid chunky looking frame with 6 legs

cloth looks in reasonable condition , you may wish to have it re-clothed but if it where me I would just go with the cloth that is on it for a year
then in one year have it re-clothed and also re-checked for level again .
It depends what you are after , a table that is pristine playing condition from the minute it is installed , or get your monies worth out for the cloth that is on it .

if you are in the market for a solid chunky looking 10ft by 5ft Snooker table look no further .
you can have this one for offers around £750 .
I do not know what is included with the table I will add a list later on once eth owner has given me this . .
but normally things like triangle balls , scoreboard , rests and cues are included .
maybe a dust sheet and a lighting shade .

Riley Aristocrat full size snooker table for sale ..EX footballers table

Here we have a very nice riley Aristocrat 12ft full sized snooker table for sale with celebrity status past owner .
and a story concerning Steve Davies Gifting the table , which may be hard to prove on that one unless you could speak to Steve Davies about it  , but the footballer past owner is genuine .
This Riley Aristocrat once belonged to an England / Arsenal footballer and now TV pundit  …. Ian Wright .
Table is based in Croydon .

I would say it is in need of a re-cloth to bring it back to it’s former glory , but the woodwork is in exceptional condition from the photo’s
all accessories you see are included in the price .
but buyer has to arrange for dismantle and collection and delivery , GCL Billiards could quote you for this !

The house once belonged to Ian Wright , my selling client informs me and this could be proved .
and that the table was left by Ian when the house was sold as in with the house sale .

Pockets openings look pretty good and not too tight and not like buckets , just correct for the average to good player , I would say 3.1/2 inch  to 3.5/8th at the fall .
Riley Aristocrats are a top end table , the cushions are the normal standard wood cushions .

If you would like to make an offer on the table , I will pass all offers onto my selling client
looking for a quicker sale so you never know what offer he will take for it ,
but I do have an idea of its current value based on what they are selling for in the market today .and have informed my selling client on those values .

once bought if you would like a quote from Geoff at GCL billiards
to relocate the table for you then please get in touch with your full post code and tel number .
