We have just undertaken a job to dismantle and store on site in our clients Garage , a full size Burroughs and watts Snooker table
The client wished to convert the very large snooker room to the New Kitchen after some pressure from His wife .

As you can see the table takes up very little room in our clients Garage , the long sides are stored to the right of this photo on top of a cabinet ,
but as you can see slate and even the shade is tightly and neatley stored into a small area in the corner of the Garage

The table during it’s dismantle , we buy very large rolls of bubble wrap for this type of work .

The slates coming off the frame and pivoted onto a Piano trolley  , having moved these types of slate bed tables for over 39 years ,you may notice I say pivot the slate rather than lift it
Lifting the full weight of slate should never be done if you can help it .Always lean and pivot off and also when you put the slate back on off the trolley .

This table is also now up for sale as Offers , it will require a full re-cover and also a re-rubber , it is a Burroughs and watts but is NOT the steel cushioned type of table .

The table before dismantle

This table has very nice turned legs , the polish is in good condition , the frame is a ridgidus frame , this means it has cross bearers along each slate joint and the two center legs are closer together , the spacing between the legs are greater from end leg to middle .
this table was originally purchased from sir William Bentley Billiards , a firm that charges top money for their tables , our client knows the current state of the market and is willing to listen to sensible offers , he knows he will not get anywhere near what he paid for the table , my thoughts are , the table is in good condition polish wise and that saves any person the expense of refurbishing the woodwork , but expect to pay for a re-cover and re-rubber the cloth is well worn and the rubber is dead.

We have a client who lives in Leighton buzzard who wishes to sell their much cherished Karnehm and Hillman snooker table
Being the much sought after 10ft version , this table will go into a room where a full size would not allow enough cue room .
this table comes with a full range of accessories including light and iron .

As can be seen from this side view of the table ,the legs are of the Tulip carved type , and the table is styled on older version of billiard table with buttons hiding the cushion bolts rather than a slide in panel ,
which I think is a very good feature .
also between the legs there is a little scroll work and reeding design in the side frame and lower edge to cushion .

the woodwork in these photo’s looks to be in excellent condition , the table having only home use from new ?
In this photo you can see more clearly the carved tulip leg design , this table design is called the Buckingham Model .

From this photo the cloth looks a little faded , so we recommend a full re-cover when the table is relocated ,  just ask Geoff for a quote for this ..
the table can be inspected on site and the table is still up to try out .
We do have a buying client who has shown interest in the table and he will be arranging a visit next week to view the table
Tables like this do not come onto the market often , but when they do they often sell quick .

We have Private selling client who wishes to move on there 10 foot Snooker table in light Oak .
The table has multi carved tulip leg design with scroll work , and reeded panelling .
10 ft tables are hard to fine , and one in oak even harder to locate .
Finding one in this condition is like finding the holy grail.

As you can see from this photo this oak table looks in mint condition , I have been told there is the od belt buckle mark in the cushions so not 100% mint but almost there !

as you can see from this leg photo , the leg is multi carved tulip design , with reeded leg knee panel , the reed design is duplicated in the side frame and vertical in the top cushion ,
I know this maker very well and the slide in panels should be reversible in the cushions if you want a plain look .

With the table you get a dust cover and all cues and accessories plus brush and a napper block , the only accessory that I would add is a proper Billiard table iron .

Matching oak scoreboard , 4 hander .

and to complete the deal there is a nice Brass four shade lighting
This table is located in Cheshire just up the M6 from Stoke , the owner just happens to be also named Geoff

10 ft tables are the best option for many people who just have not got enough room for a full size and this 10ft gives you the next best option if you have a room size of 20ft by 15ft .
A full; size snooker table requires 22ft by 16ft .

a much desired size a 9ft will fit in most large households and converted Garages , where a 12ft full size may be just that too much of a tight squeeze.
this period table was manufactured when Queen Victoria was on the throne so you are also buying an antique that is over 100 years old .

We have a client who wishes to sell their highly carved billiard table
this table is styled in the Gothic style
this table was manufactured during Queen Victoria’s reign . From the photo’s we cannot be sure what wood it is made from

it could be Oak / Walnut or light medium stain mahogany ?

As you can see from these photo’s there are parts of the table carving missing the centre end panel in this photo plus one mitre piece on the left panel

a view from above the table looks like a plain panel has been slid into this side cushion unless it is back to front ?

Gothic moulded style brass top plates , with it having top plates this dates the table manufacture before 1895 when top plates where styled out for the new concealed fixed pocket plates showing no brass at all on the top capping surround.

the other end to the table shows more missing parts to the carving , one of the vertical columns is missing tot he right of the centre panel
this frame skirt has it’s centre panel so you could copy this to insert in the other end ,and also make a new vertical column
the table is going to take some time and effort to get back to having all the missing parts re-carved and replaced , there are carved parts missing to the side skirts too .

I would recommend a viewing to see exactly the work involved to put this table back into good cosmetic order .
The manufacturer of this table is a mystery to me , but I strongly suspect it to be an Orme & Sons of Manchester although the other major Billiard firms of the day cannot be ruled out , it has a Thurston re-rubber badge on one end slide in cushion panel
Orme and Sons where well known for producing highly carved tables in Oak .

Even more vertical columns missing
I suspect the table once repaired and re-polished , will require a re-rubber and re-cover and maybe new nets and leathers plus rails , although originally this table would have had Bag nets with a tassel .
the table is located in Goole in the East riding of Yorkshire  , and I think it is a worthwhile renovation project , if you had the work done by a professional table restorer who could make the new carved panels and missing columns , then it will be pricy , but if you are good at woodwork renovation , and could look upon this table as a working Home restoration , then I am confident a good DIY restorer could do the table on a Budget , although I would recommend the moving of the table and any re-rubber and re-cover be done by a time served Billiards fitter
I do know a woodwork restorer who works in the Billiard table field if you require to go down that route and He would be happy to quote you for the renovation work .

there are not many tables that get into this condition that make it back to full renovation , I think this one is worth saving , so if you would like a period Billiards / snooker  table , with good welsh slate and solid oak / Walnut / or light  Mahogany ? woodwork , then this table could be the one for you .

**** This snooker table has been Taken by the people who are buying the house ,I think when they found out they could have it for Free it changed things .
Please keep checking into GCL Billiards for sale section there may be more tables for Free , but there are also tables for sale at very keen prices , Free tables are only available if there is a time limit for say a sale of a house and they have to move the table on very quick in order to exchange contracts  as was the case with this table , but it turned around once the new owners found out the table was Free .
Most tables are priced between the £500 and £1500 price range but there are some that are in extremely good condition some are mint , please take a few moments to browse our for sale section , there is some very good tables for sale in there Direct from the seller with no middle men fees , if you fancy one then contact Geoff at GCL Billiards for a quote to move it .

FREE FREE FREE !   Yes FREE full size snooker table !

We have another client who wishes to dispose of a full size snooker table due to a House move

The table is a Thurston full size table circa 1910 /1920

I have worked on a couple of these style legged Thurston tables in the past two years and they are very solid framed tables with a very good thick welsh slate bed

I am actually working on one identical next week up in Clitheroe which was made out of Walnut rather than Mahogany .
This is a very good opportunity to acquire a table for FREE , the last two tables we have advertised for free where snapped up after a week of advertising them .
The owners wishes the table to go to a good home that is going to use it , rather than it be recycled for the building industry , which happens to most second hand tables these days regardless of the quality and heritage of the table as in this case .

Thurston where pioneers in the billiard and snooker trade , inventing many ground leading ways to improve on the design
and where credited to have been the first firm to have used slate beds in place of the then three section wood beds in around 1830 .
this table would be circa 1910 and will have a 5 section two inch thick welsh slate bed , a very heavy table to move so we would recommend that you get a quote from Geoff at GCL Billiards , for the removal and transportation and then erecting of the table to your home or premises .
We would require a post code for us to give an accurate quote and any information about the house or premises such as stairs or rough ground or soft ground such as gravel drives or grass or steps and stairs
the ideal location would be one where we reverse onto a drive and unload direct into ground floor premises without uneven ground or loose gravel or grass .

the time period of the house move is Before Christmas so I would expect that this table would have to be removed at the latest the second week of December , but we will keep in touch with the home owner just in case things take  a sudden move which with house buying can happen very swiftly to avoid the sale not going through .
If no takers then this table will be recycled for scrap , and we as well as the owners would not like this to happen , the more tables we keep in circulation is good for the Snooker business so lets help keep this one intact .

so lets hope we can accommodate out Clients who are giving this table away free of charge with all accessories that are with it , if you are not ready for a table but require one then this may be the ideal table to get for free and sit on it in a dismantled state until the room is ready , it is a very good opportunity to acquire a good make table for Free.

We have a client who has sent us some photo’s of a very nice condition Karnehm and Hillman 8ft x 4ft with full size balls
These tables are very well made and being a square leg will suit modern look furniture .
these tables are very much sought after due to the size not being full size yet still offering that full size feel in cushion rebound and build quality you would expect ,
And the reason is they are made exactly like a full sized table , sectional thick slate , bolted into slate cushions , full size rubber profile , full size pockets ,
also a 8ft may be better to play with 10 reds in place of 15 but they can still take 15 reds if required. the table also has 6 legs so the center legs which will stop any slate sagging of the length a common occurrence on 4 legged 8ft tables .
I will be adding photo’s of the table at a later date when the owner sends them to me unlocked to download , I can see the photo’s but cannot download them to this site at the moment , therefore here is one similar being a 10ft one , ( PHOTO’S NOW DOWNLOADED SEE BELOW  last 4 photo’s. )

the table in this photo is a 10ft version of a Karnehm & Hillman
the one that my client has is smaller then this table at 8ft but the exact same design and only 4 buttons on each cushion .
not as pristine as this fully refurbished one but still in very good condition cloth and woodwork wise , just the usual zip marks and knocks  on the cushions .

Below is the actual table for sale , I have managed to unlock them from the Microsoft security that was stopping them .

as you can see this table is also in very good condition , and it takes a full size ball so my client says , the table used to belong to my clients father who passed away recently and was still playing in his 90s
my clients father was also a fully qualified referee who officiated in the first televised match at the National liberal club , my client has photo’s of him playing Joe Davies .

THIS TABLE IS SOLID WOOD / ply and high quality veneer on some parts  not low cost fibre board with melamine photo finish .

I have a client whishes’ to sell on there much cherished Pool table due to other use of the room .
the table is a 7×4 and is in solid Oak or Ash or teak wood ?
I have had a little difficulty in downloading the photo’s and have just managed to find a way to do this so this is a late listing as the enquiry was over a month ago .
Please take a look at the table below , the Table comes with a  soft cover only, this table is not a dining table .
This table was made to order  for our client and was a very expensive table when bought new , our clients are willing to listen to offers .
the table is located in Wheatley near Oxford .

MY CLIENT says it is Ash wood but could fit into any oak or teak fitted rooms just as well, or even pine as you can see in the back ground of this room .

this table is not the low cost plastic coated fibre board which are around £825  on eBay
but a bespoke pool table made in solid wood as can clearly be seen in the photo’s , and in extremely good condition

In my opinion you get what you pay for , I know which one I would choose and as it is offers to our client,  you never know how much of a bargain the Solid Ash wood / ply ash veneer bespoke table is .
