A table I took a lot of interest in when I recentley went to setup re-rubber and re-cloth with nets and leathers in Bedfordshire

My client a well kown for his excellent Fruit and veg supply and resale business .
Instructed me to travel down to Bedford having done his research into looking for a Billiards fitter ,
and found GCL billiards the firm for him .
To carry out the setting up and renovation of his Snooker Table .
A table he had in store for many years waiting for this moment .
Here are few finished photos , just the light to go up a Halo light that he is custom making , and a very large TV to install .
and he is ready to enjoy the Room .
Cloth choice was top of the range Strachan Superfine a lightweight fast cloth and I used strachan 6811 on th cushions
Rubber fitted was the best in the industry , Hainsworth Northern yellow dot rubber
Nets and leathers where Peradon supplied as where the nylon ball rails .
Some may say why nylon rails , well the nets last much long when balls drop down on the nylon rail ring rather than a metal ring .
An excellent period Burrough & Watts table in figured mahogany .
And a table that does like balls into the centre pocket at speed and accepts them , no bounce outs off the pocket plate , which on older tables with not so modern plates can cause this .
That is unusual for a steel block burroughs and watts table .
We have worked out from the end badge plate that it was built just after Geroge V death as it say the late George V on the Royal Warrent , this makes the table circa 1936 / 1937 ish .
As Edward VIII was never crowned as he abdicated in December 1936 for Mrs simpson , his Brother was Crowned George VI in May 1937 , the father of our late Queen Elizebeth II .
so this table can be dated very accuratley to that period .
A nice table to work for , a nice Person to work for who gave me a very large tray of fruit on my departure
and I must say the best fruit I have had for a long time .
I will pop in now and again when down that way as I enjoyed his company and talks about life cars and family , and maybe check on his levels of the table as every table does shift a bit when first installed .
pressing 1 ton of slate weight down onto the floor boards and beams .

Many thanks to Mickey and Family for the hospitality .
