I have just spent 4 days this week re-furbishing the playing surface and pockets on 5 full size Riley Snooker tables at the Ivanhoe social club at Ashby de la Zouch LE65 2GW .

The ivanhoe club has many of these professional players attend for exhibition nights , they have had some great professional exhibition players in the past , and few of the locals are tasty players too .
the tables are always busy in this club .
And they have their own room , sepperate from the main bar area , with sliding bifolds to close it off completley if required .
The 5 full size Imperial model tables circa 1930s / 60s upgraded by Riley Leisure to modern arsitocrat cushion just over 20 years ago .the club have the tables re-clothed every 18 to 24 months depending on use and wear .
I used to do the maintenance on the 5 tables for the firm I worked for before I went self employed in May 2012 .
and I have a very good relationship with the Club , in fact they where the very first Job that I took on as a self employed Billiards fitter .

All work useing UK made products , re-clothed in strachan 6811 tournament 100% pure new wool cloth 30 oz weight , and Peradon high quality thick leathers and nets used .
The club have a high care of maintance and the tables are visited most days for , Brushing and ironing .
New modern lighting was fitted around 7 years ago , to replace the old fashioned coffin shaped bulb lighting .
***Modern cushions and pockets on better Welsh slate , with modern lighting , this is the best combination .
Welsh slate is far superior than the soft slate they use on modern tables of today , in fact I have seen some shocking Italian / Brazialian and Chinese sourced slate which is realy soft and powdery to the touch .
You cannot get good old hard blue Welsh slate anymore , where many would have replaced the whole table , the fitting of modern cushions and pockets to the high quality welsh slate was the way to go .
I know of no better quality slate than Welsh and Irish slate .
It is a pity Billiard slates are too expensive to produce in Wales anymore .

Above , Re-rubber full size on site and use templates to get 100% accurate pocket openings
this is the best way to have your table re-rubbered and not to guess the size by taking cushions back to a workshop and estimating it all . Pocket could be tight or large openings depending on what the fitter takes off .
By using the actual tables bolted on cushion positions there is no mistake .
You can also instruct to make them larger or smaller openings .

the table was upstairs which we do not do anymore , but the builder had a extending beam fork lift to pass these slates through a window , and his work force left them like this for us to sort out .

Now and again we get asked to ship full size tables over to France , below we have palletised
a table for our courier in Lincoln to ship out and deliver to site .
Note we put every part onto one pallet but the tow long sides are separate and the shade if also sent .
it would help if anyone in France has access to a extending beam fork lift to help unload , most rural farmers have them .

What it costs to you to Rent a pool table , under contract from GCL billiards .

A 12 month minimum contract at £100 per month = £25 a week with 4 weeks free per year .
the rental costs is all you pay , you will have no maintenance fees like re-clothing , replacement cushions or coin mech or balls and cues .
and we are not like other firms who re-cloth now and again to suit them , we re-cloth every 6 months each re-cloth is worth £325 so £650 worth of re-cloths is included in your rental agreement , plus replacement cues and balls yearly on the signing of a new contract .
we like to keep within 15 miles of our base here in Long Eaton Nottingham NG10 4JU , this ensures that we can safely say we can keep up with maintenance program , and not when we are in the area like other pool rental firms .

12 month initial rental period then an ongoing 6 months contract after this , renew on each re-cloth after the initial first 12 months

I have a client who wishes to sell there much loved Burroughs and watts Full size steel cushion table , he has spent a lot of money bringing this table up to tournament spec , and at this price it will sell .
This is a private sale direct from the owner , the table is sold as is on site and it is up to any buyer to arrange for the table to be dismantled wrapped transported and then re-erected .
GCL billiards will quote for this work as long as it is on ground floor at the delivery end .
But you are free to use any Billiard fitter or firm of your choice .
You could if you know how , collect yourself then just hire a fitter at the home to fit it for you professionally .
But I recommend that the whole job is done professionally on such a nice table in this condition .
This table has the much sought after Steel Block cushions as used by professional players.

An example of my work on this well made 7ft table , made from a new frame and slate but cut down cushions from an old Orme & sons table , this was done in the 1980’s by another firm .

the thing that makes this table a good one is the full size bolts used in the cushions rather than the normal wood screw on cushions on most 7ft tables this one has been built correct .
